How It Works
Group healing services are not conducted one-on-one. They are provided in groups of ten.
Working in groups allows us to serve everyone who has requested healing while remaining faithful to the calling.
Why We Ask for Your Name
Asking for the healee’s name is a formal approach to identifying the healee during healing and prayer services. If a person had a common first and last name, a middle name, middle initial, or nickname would help distinguish one individual from another.
Today, with electronic healing request submissions, people have been omitting their full name and substituting it with an initial or just their first name. If someone submits only a first name or an initial, that is how they will appear on the group healing list, and the healing process doesn’t change. I assume that Spirit will know who you are.
Can I Submit a Healing Request for Someone Else?
Yes, as long as you have that person’s permission.
Healing requests submitted on behalf of another person require that person’s permission before they are added to the healing list. If you are submitting a healing request for someone else, please obtain their permission before submitting the request.
What Happens During the Healing Service
Once your healing request is received, your name is added to the healing list. During the next scheduled healing service, you, along with others, receive remote healing in groups of ten. A comprehensive healing prayer is prayed, followed by the remote healing service. When the service is complete, your request has received one of its three healing sessions.
Will I Still Receive Healing If I Don’t Provide My Complete Name?
From my perspective, I would say yes.
We use the name you provided, no matter what that is. Remember, God is the healer.
Our responsibility is to faithfully conduct the healing service. The rest is up to you.
Can Remote Healing, Heal Me?
We cannot guarantee that you will be healed. While healings and miraculous testimonies have been received, we disconnect from the outcome and place it in God’s divine hands.
Can I Request Positive Energy?
No.
This healing service provides prayer and distant healing. While healing energy is positive in nature, the term positive energy can mean different things to different people.
If you are seeking spiritual support, simply submit a healing request. The intention of every healing service is healing.
Distant healing is not a substitute for personal responsibility, appropriate medical care, spiritual practice, or the actions an individual may need to take in their own life. Healing is not a magic-wand solution. Lasting change often requires personal participation.
Do I Need to Request Prayer?
No.
Prayer is automatically included with every healing request. We do not maintain a separate prayer list.
If you choose to include a prayer request with your healing request, it will be read as part of your submission.
Everyone who submits a healing request is placed on the healing list. During the healing service, individual prayer requests are not prayed separately. Instead, one comprehensive prayer is offered over everyone on the healing list.
That prayer includes prayers for healing, strength and recovery, the circumstances that support healing, financial resources needed before and during recovery, protection from harmful influences that may interfere with healing, and the removal of obstructions that may be hindering healing and recovery. These prayers are offered as part of the healing service and are centered on the healing request itself.

What if I submit a healing request to both the National Spiritual Science Center Historical Society and Free Healing USA?
Both websites are overseen by Rev. Starlene Joyner Burns. If you submit a healing request through both websites, your name may be received through both systems; however, there is only one healing list shared by both websites.
Duplicate submissions do not result in additional healing sessions. Only one healing request will be placed on the healing list and processed.
There is no need to submit the same healing request through both websites.
What happens if I do not give permission to be placed on the healing list?
If you do not give permission to be placed on the healing list, your name will not be included in the distant healing service.

What if I need help with a spiritual concern that falls outside the scope of this healing service?
Some spiritual concerns are better addressed through one-on-one guidance than through group distant healing. Please consult our Minister Directory, where you will find Spiritual Science ministers who may be able to assist with a variety of spiritual concerns.
Free Will
One aspect of distant healing that many people may not realize is that healing is never forced upon anyone.
As I begin working with each group, I establish a spiritual connection. Healing is channelled to that group, but both the soul and the conscious mind retain the freedom to receive or reject what is being offered.
I learned this lesson during a healing training at a church back in the late ’90s. Healing students practiced sending healing energy to one another from a distance. When that energy came to me, I unexpectedly became aware of it. Without thinking, I consciously rejected it. That experience taught me something.
We can consciously reject healing before it is ever received.
Free will is highly respected in this practice.

- No effort to psychically diagnose your illness.
- No investigation into your personal life.
The healer’s role is much simpler than many people imagine.
We are an instrument through which God’s healing power flows.
The healing itself comes from God.
We are simply the earthbound servants entrusted with carrying out this work.
